DALHOUSIE
OVER VIEW :
Dalhousie is a hill station full of colonial charm, situated in the foothills of the Dhauladhar Mountains and facing the Pir Panjal range of the Western Himalayas at an elevation of 1,970 meters above sea level.
The town is named after the 19th century British Governor General Lord Dalhousie & it was popular with the British Army personnel in 1860's. The town’s varying altitude shades it with a variety of vegetation that includes stately grooves of pines, deodars, oaks and flowering rhododendrons. Rich in colonial architecture, the town preserves some beautiful churches.
BEST TIME TO VISIT
The best time to visit Dalhousie is from March till June and from October till December when most of the cultural festivals are held and the climate is the most enticing.

PANJPULLA:
It
means five bridges. It is a picturesque spot with water flowing under
the five small bridges. A samadhi of Sardar Ajit Singh, uncle of
Bhagat Singh, adds to its importance. A small fresh water spring
Satdhara
is close by. Its Small Picnic spot & you can enjoy some Adventure
activities also, where
you can spend some time with your family and friends
CHURCHES: There are four beautiful churches in Dalhousie. These are St. Andrew’s Church and St. Patrick’s Church at Balun, St. Francis church at Subhash Chowk and St.John’s Church at Gandhi Chowk.
KHAJJIAR :
23 kms from Dalhousie by road is the mini Switzerland of India at a height of 6400 ft. “Called Mini Switzerland” the natural beauty and picturesque landscape of this place are bound to leave an everlasting impression on a tourist. Khajjiar is surrounded by green meadows and dense forests and it is also known for its beautiful temples. This region also attracts adventure seekers and has a lot of options in adventure sports like paragliding, horse riding, zorbing, trekking etc.
MALL ROAD (GLORIOUS VIEW OF THE PIR PANJAL)
Apart from being a hub of fabulous Dalhousie goodies that one can buy, the Mall Road is also among the popular tourist places in Dalhousie ,one can sit, relax, and enjoy breathtaking views of the entire Pir Panjal mountain ranges from this road.
KALATOPE
SANCTUARY :
It is a picnic spot and a wild life sanctury, 10 km from Dalhousie and offers a fine view of the countryside. The Kalatop Wildlife Sanctuary is home to a wide variety of flora and fauna. Leopard, Bear, Deer, Langur, Jackal, Himalayan Black Marten, Barking Goral and countless beautiful birds can be spotted here.
DAIKUND PEAK
This is the highest peak in the area watching over the beautiful pine laid landscapes of Dalhousie.It is 10 km from Dalhousie. On a clear day this tall peak (2745 m) affords a bird’s eye-view of the hills, verdant valleys and the Beas, Ravi and Chenab Rivers threading their silvery passage down to the plains. This is also known as the Singing Hill,wind blowing through the trees create a musical serenade.
