GOLDEN TEMPLE
Also known as Harmandir Sahib (Temple of God), the Golden temple and the most important pilgrim spot for the Sikh community. Golden Temple is just a small part of the vast complex known as Harmandir Sahib or Darbar Sahib to the Sikhs. The spiritual focus is the tank, the Amrit Sarovar, which surrounds the glistening central shrine. Amritsar takes its name from this Amrit Sarovar which was excavated in 1577 by the fourth Sikh guru, Guru Ram Das. The Hari Mandir (central temple) is connected to the pathway by a marble causeway which is known as Guru's Bridge. This path symbolises the journey of the soul after death.
JALIANWALA BAGH
Jallianwala Bagh is a place of great historical importance during the Indian struggle for Independence. It is a public garden in Amritsar which houses a memorial of national importance that was established, it is located within the temple complex of the Golden temple (walking distance) and covers an area of 6.5 acre. Jalianwala Bagh is the famous public ground where the heinous act of public massacre was done by the British Army. The incident took place on 13th April, 1919 which was the Punjabi New Year Day. In 1951 a memorial was established on this ground to commemorate the massacre.
WAGAH BORDER
Wagah Border is one of the must visit places of tourist Interest around Golden Temple in Amritsar .People from all across the country visit this place to witness the Beating Retreat Ceremony that is held every day before sunset. This ceremony includes the closing of the international gates and lowering the flags of both the countries. The flag ceremony is conducted by the Indian Border Security Force and Pakistan Rangers since 1959. The ceremony of Beating Retreat and Change of Guard make this place highly valued.
Maharaja Ranjit Singh Museum: Located within Company Bagh, this museum displays artifacts from the life of the first Sikh ruler.
DURGIANA
TEMPLE
A Significant Hindu Temple in Amritsar, Durgiana is around one and half kilometre from the Golden Temple Often called the ‘Silver Temple’, it resembles the Golden Temple in architecture
Dedicated to Goddess Durga and Lord Vishnu, the temple was built in 1908 by Harsai Mal Kapoor. The temple complex encloses the seats of Lord Hanuman, Mata Shitla, along with Lakshmi Narain.
